Irish AidÂ
Irish Aid is the Government of Ireland's programme of assistance to developing countries, and has organised activities to mark Africa Day in Ireland since 2007. As hosts of this flagship event, Irish Aid had a strong presence at Africa Day Limerick, manning the Bang the Drum Tent close to the Education Zone (beside John's Castle), in addition to having designated spaces in the Education Zone and at the entrance to the event.
In Irish Aid's Welcome Tent, visitors to Africa Day Limerick could register to take part in a fun family treasure hunt: participating families were provided with a set of clues that helped them to explore the entire event venue, and all families that completed the treasure hunt got a special Africa Day prize from Irish Aid.
In the Education Zone, visitors could call by Irish Aid's tent to find out more about the organisation's development education work, while closeby, Irish Aid hosted the 'Bang the Drum' tent, where visitors to Africa Day Limerick could try their hand at some African drumming.
